Educating the Future of Law

Even for the most experienced litigation attorney, dealing with eDiscovery can be difficult and frustrating. To help attorneys better understand the eDiscovery process, Avalon and DIGITS offer trainings and host Continuing Legal Education (CLE) courses. These sessions are important for experienced attorneys to continue to learn and grow.  It is equally important for future attorneys and legal professionals (i.e., legal students) to have eDiscovery knowledge prior to starting their careers.

Lecture HallJason Schroeder, Avalon’s Vice President of Legal Technology, and Chris Nowak, DIGITS’s Cyber Investigations Manager, gave a guest lecture on March 14th at Daemen College about computer forensics and eDiscovery. The guest lecture invitation came from Florina Altshiler, Adjunct Professor of Law Office Computer Technology and Torts in Daemen’s Undergraduate Program, and Managing Attorney at Russo & Toner, LLP. Florina chose Avalon and DIGITS for the lecture because “eDiscovery is an important topic to address with future paralegals and an integral part of a computer technology course within the paralegal studies program.”

The feedback from Florina’s students was that the lecture was very informative, case specific, and helpful. She personally valued the specific data Jason and Chris used as demonstrative examples, and said, “It is particularly helpful to have the students exposed to experts within the various fields which are covered in the course. The students benefited from hearing directly from those who work in the field of eDiscovery and the demonstrative examples of how to conduct eDiscovery.”
